Ski Lift Musings - Copper House North Weekly Roundup

Hi!

Chad and I are back from an extended stay in Steamboat Springs. And what a dream it was. I not only leveled-up in my skiing (I'm finally getting comfortable on "blue" intermediate runs), which allowed me to ski more of the mountain this year, but I had ample time with friends and family, too. I left CO with a full heart and a rested spirit.

I also never return from a ski trip without stories worth sharing. I've written a few from our January 2025 trip, here:

Currently Listening To...

...the Atomic Habits audiobook by James Clear. Powerful insights on starting good habits and eliminating bad ones.

Do you listen to audiobooks? I have no idea why I haven't tried one before. I love listening to podcasts. But I've only read books in print. Until now, that is.

I like it.

Orchid Spike at 9 Weeks

It always amazes me how long it takes for an orchid to bloom, once the flower spike starts forming. I thought, for sure, we'd have flowers by now! But I'm thrilled there will be 4. Orchid blossoms also last for weeks at a time. Definitely worth the wait.

Thanks for reading!

Copper House North Weekly Roundup

Each Friday, peek behind the curtain of a tech-pro-turned-artist and author. I'll share what I've been working on and occasional "just because" stories I think you'll enjoy. I love to share beauty, make you smile or think, and encourage you. I'm also an unapologetic hugger. Don't judge.

Since July, my creative energy has been shifting toward a new love of video and, most recently, animation. The change has been incredibly exciting. I find myself wanting to spend ALL my creative time in this way. 😯 The intent of this newsletter has been to add value to your life in the form of beauty, creativity,...

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 92 Making art with paper. I recently bought stacks of paper in a rainbow of colors so I can create without limitation. Hello! I almost didn't send this email. It's Friday at 7 a.m. as I write and I normally write my newsletter on Thursday, at the latest. I didn't think I had much to share. But then I remembered that even though this paper snowman may not be "much", he might make you happy. Using paper as an art medium is certainly making me happy! The snowman is going...

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 91 You know it's Christmas-time when the mums are swapped out for festive topiaries and red bows at the grocery store. Hi! This week I created 1 new stop-motion animation made entirely with paper and inspired by the release of the movie Wicked: For Good today. I loved the original movie so much I've just been waiting for the next one! It's one of the rare movies I'm planning to watch in a theater, with a good friend. Here's the animation: And here's a look inside my...
