A change in (writing) pace - Copper House North Weekly Roundup

video preview

Hi!

You may (or may not) have noticed I’m sending this email on Monday and not Friday. And thus begins a change to the Copper House North Weekly Roundup.

Since July, my creative energy has been shifting toward a new love of video and, most recently, animation. The change has been incredibly exciting. I find myself wanting to spend ALL my creative time in this way. 😯

The intent of this newsletter has been to add value to your life in the form of beauty, creativity, and encouragement. And writing it has been a wonderful creative outlet for me, too. A way to express myself as an artist and connect with an audience who appreciates and supports my work.

But with this change comes a deep desire to continue learning how to express myself on camera, both personally and creatively. And I’m going to lean into that.

Which means writing less.

I squirmed a little when I wrote that last sentence. Because, as it would be, feeling and hearing the click of the keys on my keyboard is enticing this very moment. But that just means I’ll never stop writing entirely. I am going to stop writing on a schedule, though.

Now's a good time for this change with Christmas in 10 days (!) and our annual ski trip soon after. This is when I typically fall out of my normal routine, anyway. But when I write again, whether it's a month from now or 5, I'll give my best to make it worth your time to read. In the meantime, you'll be able to find me on YouTube!

Highlights

  • We've been listening to Carols & Hymns by Warren Barfield (remember the farmhouse story?). It's the first time he's recorded music in years. A blessing to listen to.
  • Today marks 7 months of growing out my natural hair. Still hanging in there. ;)
  • The final snow globe animation I alluded to in my last email.
  • If you enjoy bloopers, there are a few at the end of my latest video.
  • If you haven't grabbed the 2026 wall calendar, it's not too late.
  • My parents will be visiting this week. It's been too long since we've been together. ❤️

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanks for reading!

Copper House North Weekly Roundup

Each Friday, peek behind the curtain of a tech-pro-turned-artist and author. I'll share what I've been working on and occasional "just because" stories I think you'll enjoy. I love to share beauty, make you smile or think, and encourage you. I'm also an unapologetic hugger. Don't judge.

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 92 Making art with paper. I recently bought stacks of paper in a rainbow of colors so I can create without limitation. Hello! I almost didn't send this email. It's Friday at 7 a.m. as I write and I normally write my newsletter on Thursday, at the latest. I didn't think I had much to share. But then I remembered that even though this paper snowman may not be "much", he might make you happy. Using paper as an art medium is certainly making me happy! The snowman is going...

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 91 You know it's Christmas-time when the mums are swapped out for festive topiaries and red bows at the grocery store. Hi! This week I created 1 new stop-motion animation made entirely with paper and inspired by the release of the movie Wicked: For Good today. I loved the original movie so much I've just been waiting for the next one! It's one of the rare movies I'm planning to watch in a theater, with a good friend. Here's the animation: And here's a look inside my...

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 90 24 years of enjoying this sugar maple in our back yard. I took this photo last Friday afternoon and today most of the leaves are piled around its base. Hello! This week I made 2 more stop-motion animations, where I tried a new technique with each one. No matter how many times I watch the pumpkin animation, I start dancing in my chair when the music starts. 😆 This is the most fun I've ever had with a camera. And possibly in all of my creative career. Here's a...
