Animation, Edition 52 ๐ŸŽ‰ of the Roundup - Copper House North Weekly Roundup

โ€‹

Hello!

I've been looking forward to writing to you this week, as it's the 52nd time I've sent the Weekly Roundup. Yes, it's been a full year! ๐ŸŽ‰

Now, if you were with me at the beginning, you know these 52 weeks haven't been consecutive. The majority of my emails have been sent since last spring.

But I'm celebrating the special connection I've had with you through this newsletter, especially in the past year. And I'm grateful sharing with you has become one of my favorite things to do each week.

Thank you for being here!

Animation - Who Knew?

Over the holidays, in addition to carving stamps, I tiptoed into 2D animation. I'd only had limited experience with it beforehand, so it was an exciting undertaking. And one I'm going to keep building on!

You can watch and read about the 4 animations I've made thus far, right here.

5 Weeks Later

You might remember the tiny spike I showed you, in early December, on the orchid that sits in my office. It was just forming and I thought it was a spike (vs. a root). Well, here's what it looks like today! Definitely not a root. ;)

It's been a couple of years since this one has blossomed (we have 2 orchids), so I'm ready. But we'll have to wait a little longer.

Stay warm! โ„๏ธ

Copper House North Weekly Roundup

Each Friday, peek behind the curtain of a tech-pro-turned-artist and author. I'll share what I've been working on and occasional "just because" stories I think you'll enjoy. I love to share beauty, make you smile or think, and encourage you. I'm also an unapologetic hugger. Don't judge.

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 93 Hi! You may (or may not) have noticed Iโ€™m sending this email on Monday and not Friday. And thus begins a change to the Copper House North Weekly Roundup. Since July, my creative energy has been shifting toward a new love of video and, most recently, animation. The change has been incredibly exciting. I find myself wanting to spend ALL my creative time in this way. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ The intent of this newsletter has been to add value to your life in the form of beauty, creativity,...

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 92 Making art with paper. I recently bought stacks of paper in a rainbow of colors so I can create without limitation. Hello! I almost didn't send this email. It's Friday at 7 a.m. as I write and I normally write my newsletter on Thursday, at the latest. I didn't think I had much to share. But then I remembered that even though this paper snowman may not be "much", he might make you happy. Using paper as an art medium is certainly making me happy! The snowman is going...

The Weekly Roundup, Ed. 91 You know it's Christmas-time when the mums are swapped out for festive topiaries and red bows at the grocery store. Hi! This week I created 1 new stop-motion animation made entirely with paper and inspired by the release of the movie Wicked: For Good today. I loved the original movie so much I've just been waiting for the next one! It's one of the rare movies I'm planning to watch in a theater, with a good friend. Here's the animation: And here's a look inside my...
